I thought SAWATER was sold off to a French company in the 1990s by then premier, Olsen. Visitors really appreciate the old architecture in Adelaide and are glad we have kept old homes, commercial and government buildings. I wouldn't want to raise children in any other city. Peak hour traffic is not typical: it's still possible to get from the foothills to the coast in about 20 minutes. I adore Adelaide and the ease of mobility.

Opened by the Duke of Edinburgh in March 1971, Strathmont Centre was conceived as a "village", providing 24hr a day supported accommodation for children and adults who have intellectual disability. The original plan was for approximately 20 'Villas' of 32 residents, each divided into 4 units of eight residents each, situated around a central courtyard and staffed with a trained 'Mental Deficiency Nurse' and a 'Home Assistant', who, between them would provide care, support and habilitation (developmental training)in order to maximise the potential of each individual client.
The model of service and support has changed several times during the 35 years of its existance, to the point that the centre has really long outlived any useful role. As of 2008 it is being systematically closed down, with the "clients" being re-housed in more normative accommodation in the suburbs of Adelaide.
